🇧🇪 Thanks for joining us at FIL Brussels! Organized by FF alongside EthCC, FIL Brussels brought together hundreds of members of the Filecoin community for a week of insightful talks, hands-on workshops, networking opportunities, and announcements at the FIL Brussels Network Base, FIL Dev Summit, and the Filecoin Booth at EthCC. Sessions are being added to the FIL Fest at FIL Brussels YouTube playlist.

🛠️ Filecoin Foundation had representatives at FIL Dev Summit leading discussions about the future of the network. Sessions included Galen McAndrew's workshop on the future of Filecoin’s on-chain incentive structures; Parth Shah's overview of the latest statistics and successes of FF's Bug Bounty Program; Ken Toler's insights into unsealing project success with the FF maturity model; and Kurt Opsahl's discussion about the legal & policy implications of storing data on Filecoin for ecosystem developers.

Ecosystem

Builders Funnel

  • During EthCC, Head of Technical Programs Stef Magdalinski joined a panel on success strategies for grants program design with leaders from Gitcoin, EnDAOment, and Tally.

  • FF Dev Advocate Jenks Guo presented at the Proof of Data Summit and Robert Dowling joined AI x DePIN x Social and IoTeX’s R3al World DePIN House.

  • Check out FF's community resources for developers:

    • The DevWG is a space to connect with developers, community members, researchers, and others interested in the development of new tools, technologies, and use cases that leverage the Filecoin protocol.

Storage

  • Solutions Architect Yan Bo Ng moderated a fireside chat at the FIL Brussels Network Base on Empowering AI and DePIN Without Sacrificing Decentralization with Alex Blagirev from SingularityNET.
  • Also at the FIL Brussels Network Base, Head of Community Porter Stowell participated in a fireside chat with Michael Clark. Together, they defined the "data economy" –– a world where data is no longer a cost center but a revenue center –– and discussed how the AI boom is accelerating the transition to this new digital age.
  • Porter also took the stage at EthCC to introduce the data economy and why blockchain is vital for retaining data’s value to the Ethereum and broader Web3 communities in attendance.

Network Operations

Governance

  • Governance Program Manager Kaitlin Beegle spoke at EthCC about Who Owns the Protocol? Experiments in Governing Filecoin on July 9. The session detailed Filecoin Foundation's public reform of Filecoin protocol community governance, highlighting unexpected challenges of this redesign effort and solutions other projects can draw from.

Fil Plus

  • As of July 15, over 50 active allocators are participating in the Filecoin Plus program and working with the Fil+ team to standardize the pathway for DataCap renewal.
  • Filecoin Plus Program Manager Galen McAndrew hosted an open discussion on the evolving on-chain incentive structure of the Filecoin ecosystem at FIL Dev Summit, outlining changes, challenges, and opportunities for storage providers, clients, and developers.
