More than half of the world’s population is online and connected. Collectively, we create more than 2.5 quintillion bytes of data daily — from photos and videos, tweets and texts, Reddit posts and research reports, and so much more.

But today’s internet is highly centralized; our web infrastructure is dominated by just a few platforms that capture, store, and monetize a vast majority of the content and value generated by our web traffic.

The Vision of Web3

The next generation of the internet will correct this. And our team at the Filecoin Foundation and the Filecoin Foundation for the Decentralized Web (FFDW) is working to build and support that new web.

Web3 is more distributed, more user-focused, and more efficient than today’s web. And it’s powered by decentralized protocols like Filecoin. At the Foundation, we’re proud to be a part of the community building this new web. And our team is growing! We’re looking for a Developer Evangelist, a Program Manager, and a Startup Operator to join our team and grow the web3 ecosystem.

The Role of Filecoin and the Work of the Foundation

The mission of Filecoin is to create a decentralized, efficient, and robustfoundation for humanity’s information.

The creators of Filecoin envisioned an independent foundation that would serve as the long-term governance body for the Filecoin ecosystem. Its original mandate was to “grow an open ecosystem for decentralized storage” and to “give developers an open and sustainable platform to build, enhance and monetize those services.”

The Filecoin Foundation and FFDW are charged with bringing that mission to fruition. Launched in 2020, FF and FFDW are designed to foster the Filecoin ecosystem, steward its governance, and promote its mission of supporting the decentralized web.

This is a monumental task, and one that requires support from the brightest minds in technology and civil liberties to be successful. We’ve lined up a steller board and advisors for both foundations to shepherd this project and grow the ecosystem. And we’re looking for more bright minds to round out our team.
